Today SENRUG Committee Member Dave Shaw and myself had a catch up with Northumberland County Council (via Zoom) and were encouraged to hear that everything regarding the Northumberland Line re-opening remains on track. Of course we are still waiting for the final funding package to be confirmed at which point construction work can begin in earnest. We were updated on various issues and how they are being overcome and also briefly discussed problems and potential solutions for bus and pedestrian access to stations, a key issue for SENRUG. Sadly, a planned visit to Duke’s School in Ashington at lunchtime to talk about the scheme had to be deferred as I have COVID and am self-isolating, but we expect that to be re-arranged for after half term.
