Although we were delighted that the planned May 2022 timetable has been deferred for a year, SENRUG remains concerned that the rail industry will simply come back with only slightly modified proposals and again fail to take into account the needs and aspirations of the North East. To this end, working with other Rail User groups in the region, and through Railfuture North East branch, we have produced a Briefing Paper setting out the problems and our solutions for accommodating both this regions requirements and the legitimate desire to run faster services between London and Scotland. Today, I emailed this paper to MPs in the SENRUG area, running from North Tyneside, through South East and mid Northumberland, to Berwick.
