It was great watching the Bebside cycle / footbridge being swung into place over the A189 Spine Road this afternoon. There were 30 or so onlookers gathered on the overbridge at the Bebside round-a-bout by Asda to watch what was going on. Among them was the Northumberland Line’s very own Programme Director Neil Blagburn who turned up to watch as well, so great opportunity to have a private off the record catch up with him on progress. Particularly pleasing to note was the spontaneous applause from the gathered crowd as the bridge was finally lifted and swung in to position by the crane. Probably not loud enough for the construction workers below us and some meters down the road to hear, but nice to note the enthusiasm as the final opening draws close.
