I’m delighted to hear Newsham Station will open on Monday 17th March. See the Council’s press release here. Not exactly the “early in the New year” we had been promised when it narrowly missed the December 2024 opening of the first phase (Ashington and Seaton Delaval stations) but progress is being made; though it does seem painfully slowly. We just hope the remaining stations are still on track for later in 2025, much depends on whether whatever delays have been experienced at Newsham have had a knock-on effect on the remaining work. The project team say “no”, but either way, we hope we will now see work at the remaining stations proceed at pace.
