I was invited to meet a representative from First Group who will be bidding to retain the franchise when it is renewed later this year. The main point of discussion was the SENRUG plan to extend the Liverpool to Newcastle services on to Cramlington and Morpeth, which, combined with the existing Northern Rail services, would double service frequency at these stations to 2 trains each way per hour.
