I travelled down to London today in my capacity as a member of Railfuture’s European Passenger Group. First off was a meeting with Eurostar, at which I sought to explain the problems of people trying to interchange on to their services from the north, no through tickets from Morpeth being just one problem. The afternoon tour of Victoria Station with Network Rail’s station manager Darren Williams was most illuminating, with Darren signalling a new approach that most definitely puts passengers first, over and above retail and commercial advertising opportunities, which we can only hope gets rolled out to other Network Rail managed stations. And then, on the Saturday, a European Passenger Federation meeting, for which I am Railfuture’s delegate.
