Great to have another opportunity to ride round The Northumberland Line last week. Thanks to Paul Henry at Northern Rail for the ticket. This time I invited Railfuture’s Policy Director Ian Brown to join me, and managed to find time to show him the site of the Bedlington Ironworks, birthplace of the railways (because it was here that “malleable rail” was first patented), the night before. I was also interviewed by The Guardian just before the tour. Nice to see their article here, and their photo below..
