An excellent turn-out last night for our hustings meeting for the upcoming North East Mayor elections. Guy Renner-Thompson (Conservative), Andrew Gray (Green), Jamie Driscoll (an Independent candidate and the sitting Mayor), Thom Campion speaking on behalf of Aidan King (Liberal-Democrat), and Paul Donaghy (Reform UK) all set out their vision for public transport in the North East, and what they would do if elected. There was then a lively time of questions from the floor, which the candidates were then giving opportunity to answer. Excellent turn-out with just under 60 people present. Kim McGuinness the Labour Party candidate was also invited but was unable to attend or find a representative is available to speak on her behalf.
