Great to have a chance today to introduce myself and the work of SENRUG to Emma Foody, new MP for Cramlington and Killingworth. I’m grateful to her for making the time. We ran through SENRUG’s campaigns, focussing of course on those that effect Cramlington, the need to get more trains at the station and proper bus integration. We also discussed our campaign for a rail / metro interchange station at Benton East, coupled with the Blyth Town Centre – Airport link that would result in direct Metro services from Benton East to the airport. Hoping this will be the start of a strong and constructive relationship, working together to promote better use of rail and better rail services in this region. I’m still trying to get a meeting with David Smith, new MP for North Northumberland which covers Morpeth, Alnmouth and Berwick.

Just to mention an article I wrote last month about the need to support restoring railways and mentioning the Northumberland Line in particular. Hopefully support for the line and for extending it in future as SENRUG proposes will receive cross-party support.
