To Berwick tonight, giving a presentation and update to one of the Town Council committees. Discussed having a joint SENRUG / RAGES (our sister group Rail Action Group East of Scotland) public meeting in the town next summer, as people in Berwick and indeed all of Northumberland’s stations look north, as well as south, a point I keep making to the train companies in relation to Cramlington, Morpeth and Alnmouth too. But main area of interest is how to get our local service Newcastle to Berwick up and running. This would be electric trains with fast acceleration, calling at all stations, so serving Pegswood, Widdrington, Acklington and Chathill, with scope to open Belford and 1 or 2 other places later. And of course, delighted our funding application was approved. This will help keep us going for the next 5 years. Many thanks to the Council for that.
