LUMO Celebrations

Today, I was invited to a photo shoot with Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director of Lumo and Hull Trains, Cllr Richard Wearmouth, Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council, and guests from Visit England to celebrate Lumo’s amazing 50% growth in passenger numbers at Morpeth. We engaged with Lumo whilst the company was at its inception phase to put the case for Morpeth, highlighting the under exploited market for direct trains to both London and Edinburgh, and are pleased that their investment has paid off. And is encouraging that our campaigning work is recognised by being invited to the photo call. Also got the chance to catch up with Cllr Wearmouth earlier, mainly about the need for a clear opening date for the Northumberland Line to be released, as well as the post opening extensions and enhancements we are campaigning for, and which the County Council are very much supporting.
