Re-building a Station – French Style

In Versailles for the weekend with my daughter and we went out for a walk on Saturday, along the route of the Cindarella section of RER C which runs between Versailles and Massy-Palaiseau. But it was a replacement bus, which incidentally, in France it seems, is always free. Here in the UK you must still have a rail ticket to ride on the rail replacement bus, though I have never, ever had my ticket checked. The rail staff leave it to the bus driver, and the bus driver expects the rail staff to do it. But I digress. At Vauboyen station, the platform is being re-built to a different height, and this takes a single weekend (hence the single weekend line closure). Compares favourably with a couple of years to rebuild the platforms at Bedlington.
